How to Submit Your Manuscript to Wolven Moon
Submissions are currently open all year.
We accept email and form-submissions (via the contact page). At the time we do not accept submissions sent through the post.
Categories we are currently reading include:
- Fiction – Novels, Novellas, Short Stories, and Screenplays
- Non-Fiction – Full-length Works, Memoirs, Biographies, and How-tos
- Poetry – Long and short form poetry as well as full collections

- Alternative History
- Sci-Fi
- Cryptozoology
- Crime
- Thrillers
When it comes to poetry and essays we enjoy:
- All forms of poetry
- Success stories
- Love stories
Manuscripts should be in 12-point type font with one-inch margins. Double-spaced is preferred. Submissions must also include name, address, and contact information for the author. An author bio of 50 to 100 words is also to be included. Email submissions received without the requested information won’t be considered.
All email submissions must include documents with the following file types: .doc, .docx, .pdf, .txt, or Google Doc link.
Response Time
Average response time is approximately two to three weeks. August to October and December to February are anticipated to be our slowest response times.
Simultaneous Submissions
We are open to simultaneous submissions, we just ask you keep things reasonable. We want a chance to read everyone’s best work. Submissions including more than one manuscript will have longer response times.
Reading & Contest Fees
Wolven Moon Publishing is founded by independent authors who are also online entrepreneurs. So, we understand the necessity of reaching a greater audience and developing a readership… and, we’ll help you do it. For now, our publishing house requires no reading fee. In the future, with higher submission rates, a nominal fee may be included which covers reading and responding to submissions and contest entries.
Our future reading fee also helps to spotlight new indie authors.
How We Pay Authors
Wolven Moon is committed to supporting the work of independent authors. That said, our current rates and contest prize pools are more token payments than actual paychecks.
Also, submissions with a reading fee, are eligible for our annual Emerging Indie Author Award which comes with a book-deal, a promo-package, and a cash reward.
Word Count Guidelines:
Here at Wolven Moon, we like to keep an open mind. So, we’re not big on word counts. That said, we do have a few guidelines to keep things in some sort of order.
Our suggest word counts include:
Short stories and guides
- 500 to 3,500 words for short stories
- 2,000 to 10,000 words for longer “short” works including stories and guides
Novels & novellas
We love reading novels and novellas. That said, the first few chapters (5,000 words to 15,000 words) should be enough for us to make decision (or at least to ask to read the rest!)
- 15,000 words to 35,000 words for novellas
- 60,000 words to 120,000 words for novels
Serial fiction
Serial fiction submissions should include a basic summary of the serial as well as a full chapter.
Poetry
We adore poetry. Submissions may include up to seven poems per file. All poetry must be original. All forms are word counts are accepted.
Screen plays
Film is a new interest of ours. We’re currently seeking out screen plays of 5,000 words to 15,000 words of all genres.
